About Us

This is the San Antonio chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists, the oldest organization representing journalists in the United States.

There are numerous levels for joining the organization. If you spend more than half your time working as a journalist or journalism educator, you qualify for the professional levels, ranging from $37.50 for students and retirees to $1,000 for a lifetime membership.

If you don’t meet the professional requirement, you can still join as a supporting member for just $20 annually. Joining the San Antonio chapter is an additional $10 per year and can be added when you sign up for membership in the national organization.

SPJ-SA hosts an annual fundraiser called Gridiron, an SNL-style performance that raises money for our scholarship recipients. Visit the scholarships tab for information on applying for our annual student scholarships.
